The most recent announcement of Ghost Recon Breakpoint at last month’s Gamescom saw Ubisoft releasing a multitude of information for their upcoming game. With trailers showcasing the PvP game mode, the Battle Royale mode and the updated multiplayer mode.

Breakpoint is a continuation of the gameplay on offer in Ghost Recon Wildlands but brings a more military survival-esque style to the table. All while delving deeper into the story, moving from Bolivia in Wildlands to the Aurora island; home to the Skell tech facility. In Breakpoint you crash your helicopter and must survive the demanding landscapes and enemy threats. Putting more of a focus on what it’s like to be on the front line, under continuous threat. With plenty of gun-slinging action, explosions and more tactical based approaches than ever before. Fans of the series are in for one hell of a journey.

We’ve got more details below, so here are 5 things you need to know about Ghost Recon Breakpoint!

The Story

The main campaign story of Breakpoint is heavily technology influenced. In a nutshell, it’s your responsibility to stop future AI tech falling into the wrong hands.

The story is set in the island of Auroa; home to the Skell Technology facility. Jace Skell, the inventor of all this AI tech is helping the tech become more advanced and autonomous. With this, comes the obvious risks to humanity with the highly advanced tech falling into the wrong hands. However, no one can get in contact with the island or Skell Technology. What exactly is going on? What has happened to Jace Skell? Has someone stolen the technology? And if so, what do they plan on doing with it?

There’s only one way to find out.

Weather

Ubisoft has put a lot of manpower behind providing different weather states based on location. All thanks to the strong focus on survival and surviving all that comes with being on the front line.

The Aurora island is made up of many different environments, from snowy terrain to swamps and even lava. These different environments each present their own tactical challenges. But with the addition of diverse weather conditions, batting the elements can truly challenge you. It’s up to you to make sure you use these tough situations to your advantage.

PvP and Co-op Play

Breakpoint is completely revamping its PvP mode Ghost War, improving and building from Ghost Recon Wildlands. This time around, Ubisoft have made the multiplayer more of a main feature, as opposed to something that is just tacked on to tick boxes.

It’s still the same 4v4 mode that we saw in Wildlands, but with an overhauled class system and a whole host of PvP specific maps. And the addition of two new game types, Elimination and Sabotage, promises to make Breakpoint a thoroughly attractive and satisfying multiplayer experience. So, you can put your Ghost Squad’s tactical nous against others in different situations to see who is truly the best.

On top of this, co-op play seems to be everywhere in Breakpoint. From co-oping with your mates in the main campaign to completing side events and exploring the vast terrain of the Aurora island. Making Breakpoint a great asset for multiple playthroughs and time investment.

Updated Every 4 Months

Ubisoft has stated that Breakpoint will be updated post-launch with new seasonal content ever 4 months. This includes weaponry, gear, and equipment as well as new story events and game modes. On top of providing all this additional content, Ubisoft will also be adding Raids to keep you hooked and playing even longer.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is due for release on October 4, 2019 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Let us know what you’re looking forward to the most in the comments below.
